Configuration of playlists via the website
Contents
Using the ise smart connect KNX Sonos, you can save your own default settings for each master-slave group. This allows you to select possible playback sources directly without having to search the entire list of all available Sonos sources.

You select these via the device website. You can find information on how to call the website in Chapter 7.6.2 "About the device website" of the product manual.

The start page of the device always displays the configuration of the playlist for the first group.

Initial display with the available Sonos sources

The start page is divided into two sections. The blue header contains the device names and the menu bar. The device name is linked to the start page on each website. The menu bar contains a link to the status page (Device status), which is used only for diagnostic purposes, as well as the language selection of the configuration page.

The area below starts with the header line, which contains the configuration for the first group as the start value. Using the selection list to the right of the header line, you can select a different group. This is followed by the current configuration of the music sources for the selected group displayed as a table. The operating elements for deleting, saving and loading a configuration complete the page.

1.Initial display

If the device is properly configured and the master of the first ise smart connect KNX Sonos group can be contacted, the start page displays the available sources. The device loads the sources from the Sonos Playlists and My Radio Stations configured with the Sonos software, as well as any existing external source types. All playlists are displayed first, followed by all stations, all in alphabetical order.

1.1.Saving the configuration

The button for saving the configuration is only active if the displayed configuration for the respective group has not yet been saved.
This is also the basic state upon initial start-up for each group. This means, for example, that if a Sonos playlist is added with the Sonos software, the positions of the radio stations may shift. Only saving the configuration ensures that a specific music source can always be accessed via the assigned number.

1.2.Deleting and creating an individual list

The Delete button clears the current list. If this cleared list is saved, the page displays the available sources again after reloading.
To create a custom list, a source type can be selected for each of the available 255 storage locations. Possible source types are Sonos Playlists, My Radio Stations, as well as Line-in (1) and TV (2). You can enter the name of the source in Source. If the source exists in the Sonos application, it is displayed in the selection list. The selection list is limited to 2000 entries on the display. If a source is not displayed in the selection list, you can assign it easily by entering the name. You can, of course, build up an internal system (e.g. through the use of number ranges) by "omitting" individual numbers.

Other options are available for each entry: Set the starting track number (only for Sonos Playlists), the announcement mode, cancel muting, or set the group volume. If you select a starting track number (Title), this track is started when the source is played.

Announcement mode is only available for Sonos Playlists. It restores the previous playback at the end of the announced Sonos playlist. If random playback of repeat mode are activated, the announcement deactivates these modes for the duration of the announcement. Announcements consisting of several tracks will always be played in the normal order and end after the last track. If the announcement is interrupted by selecting a different source or by stopping, the ise smart connect KNX Sonos does not restore the mode that was active prior to the announcement. Pausing the announcement does, however, restore the previous playback mode immediately. Announcement mode does not affect the group creation and only works like all sources if the player configured as master is not currently being used as a slave.

If the "Never mute" checkbox is enabled, the ise smart connect KNX Sonos will cancel any muting of Sonos group when this source entry is selected via KNX. In the case of an announcement, muting is restored after the announcement if it has been active (3).
Regardless of this received telegrams are always executed at the "Mute" input, i.e., a 1 telegram can be used to reactivate muting at this input.

If a group volume in percent is selected in the selection list, this will be set in the Sonos group when the source is played. The original volume is restored when an announcement finishes (3).

To delete a default setting, simply set the source type of the corresponding number to the placeholder Please select a source type and save the configuration.
Note
You can also configure the groups without a connection to the Sonos system to be used at a later point in time. Thus, the end user can configure the groups before using the ise smart connect KNX Sonos system. However, in order to do so, you must enter the sources to be saved under the respective number with your future name (with the correct spelling as used in the Sonos system). In doing so, observe the naming conventions of the Sonos system (e.g. number of characters). Please also note that when using the same source in several places, it is possible that, for example, jumping to the next place does not start playback of the expected source. This is because the place number is determined from the source name and is no longer unique in this case. It is therefore recommended to use a particular source only once in the configuration within a master-slave group.

1.2.1.Footnotes

(1) = Only available for Sonos CONNECT / CONNECT:AMP.

(2) = Only available for Sonos PLAYBAR.

(3) = Restoring the mute and volume after an announcement is currently only done for the group master.

1.3.Loading a different configuration

If the configurations of two ise smart connect KNX Sonos groups differ only slightly, the configuration for group 1 can be created first. Select group 1 on the configuration page for group 2 in the selection list to the left of the Load button and press Load. As a result, the configuration of group 1 is adopted. This can now be changed and defined by pressing Save.

1.4.Potential problems

If a source name is incorrectly written or if the source with a Sonos application is removed, the source can still be selected, but the ise smart connect KNX Sonos device then reports error 4: playlist via the corresponding KNX group object at runtime.

An empty position can also be selected, which leads to the KNX error message 5: empty slot
.
If the ise smart connect KNX Sonos device has just been restarted, the start page does not show any configuration, but displays the following messages instead: The SonosApp is not active. Please use the ETS to configure the device. or The SonosApp is not active. This is normal during the initialisation phase - After about two minutes, the device should display the correct state.

If the Sonos system has significantly more than 300 saved Sonos playlists or radio stations, the playback commands on the KNX may no longer work in some cases circumstances. In this case, the suggestions for source names are also missing on the website. If possible, delete lists or radio stations you no longer need, or contact support@ise.de indicating the number of playlists and radio stations you are using.
The TV source type can only be played if there is a Sonos PLAYBAR within the group. If the source is played and the PLAYBAR is not the master of the group, it automatically becomes the master. This leads to an inconsistency with the KNX group parametrisation. Please therefore select a PLAYBAR as a master when parametrising the KNX group if you wish to use its TV input.
