1.Transfer via USB
As of version 4.9, a USB flash drive can be used for the transfer. The following functions are supported:
HS4/FS4 devices are required for the use of a USB memory. Furthermore, as of version 4.9, transmission via serial interface is no longer supported.
2.Setting up a USB memory device
You can use any program to write ISO files to a USB flash drive. The program must be able to create bootable USB flash drives.
The procedure described below was tested with the Rufus 3.4 Portable program. If another program is used, the procedure must be adapted accordingly.

- Copy the program to any directory of your PC.
- Connect a USB flash drive with a minimum size of 2 GB to a free USB port on your PC.
- Start the program rufus-3.4p.exe
- Select the USB stick in the "Drive" field of the Rufus program.
- Now select the appropriate ISO image via [SELECT]:

" - For a downgrade to version 4.8 (always with factory reset): “"

It is located in the subfolder "\firmware\usb

- Accept the suggested settings.
- Start the writing process with [START].
- The message may then appear: "Download required".
In this case start the download by selecting "Yes". - Exit the program upon completion of the write process.
- The preparation of the USB flash drive is now complete.
- If a preparation for project or firmware transfer has been carried out, the further configuration takes place in the HS/FS Expert.
- If the USB memory was prepared for a downgrade to version v4.8, the configuration is completed and the USB memory can be disconnected from the PC.
Important: Always check in Explorer that the USB device has been ejected before removing it from the PC.
2.1.Enable booting via USB
These adjustments in the BIOS are not necessary if the system was previously updated to version 4.9 (or higher) via the LAN.
- Connect the keyboard and screen to the HS/FS.
- Switch on the HS/FS.
- Open the BIO settings during the boot process using the “DEL” button.
- Change the following settings in the “boot“ tab:
- “Prefer USB Boot”: activate
- “Boot Removable Media”: activate
- Save settings and exit BIOS with “Save & Exit”
- The device restarts.
