Transferring the firmware

1.Transferring the firmware

A firmware can be transferred via the following ways:

1.1.Procedure

To upgrade or update the firmware, please proceed as follows:
  1. Make a note of the currently and already installed firmware (the information can be found, for example, in the Debug page under System/Version).
  2. Back up the retentive memory (in the Expert software under "[HomeServer|FacilityServer]/Save retentive memory").
  3. Archive the current project (in the Expert software under "File/Archive").
  4. Install the new Expert software.
  5. Import the archived project (in the Expert software under "File/Import project").
  6. Install the new firmware (in the Expert software under "[HomeServer|FacilityServer]/Upload firmware").
  7. Transfer the current project in its entirety to the HS/FS (in the Expert software under "[HomeServer|FacilityServer]/Transfer project"). For this, select the option "Images+Data+Voice Messages".
  8. Check the retentive data on the HS/FS. The retentive data is automatically copied during upgrade or update.
Note
The firmware upgrade/update is not complete until start-up of the HS/FS. This state is signalled with three double beeps.
Do not cancel the upgrade/update process before the triple dual tone has sounded!

If the upgrade/update of the firmware is successfully completed, you have to transfer the current project again to the HS/FS via the Expert software (see point 7). Only then will the device work properly.

Only use the Expert software offered for the firmware and the corresponding client!

1.2.Release notes

  • Starting with version 4.10:
    • At least version 4.9 must be installed on the device.
  • Version 4.9 and higher
    • The firmware can be updated via a USB flash drive.
    • Updating the firmware with a serial cable is no longer possible.
  • Version 4.7 and higher
    • The device used must be at least an HS4/FS4. Older hardware is no longer supported as of version 4.7!
  • Version 2.4 and higher
    • Update of the firmware is additionally possible via LAN if the device has at least version 2.4.

2.Transfer mode

2.1.Transferring the firmware

The firmware is transferred to the device.

2.2.Resetting the device to the default settings

This option is available only when transferring via USB. With this option, the device can be completely reset.

All data stored on the HS/FS (incl. project) will be lost.

If there is a DHCP server in the network, the HS/FS can then be reached under an IP address assigned by DHCP. If there is no DHCP server in the LAN, the HS/FS can be reached under the IP address 192.168.0.11. With the user "admin" and password "admin" the device can be reprogrammed.

If there is a firmware version 4.8 (or older) on the HS4/FS4 and booting via USB is activated, a device can be updated to the firmware included in the expert installation by means of this option.

3.Messages

Status, warning and error messages for the transfer process are output here.
