Logic online test / worksheet monitoring
Contents

1.Introduction

A worksheet can be monitored with the logic online test. This is used for diagnosis and error detection.

It is possible to monitor and follow the telegrams of the inputs and outputs and to set input values.
The monitoring can only ever be carried out on one worksheet.
If the worksheet is changed, the protocol and filter settings are lost.

For worksheet monitoring, the unchanged project must run on an active HS/FS!
If something has been changed in the project, a corresponding message appears when trying to switch on the monitoring.

After each change, the project must be transferred again and the worksheet monitoring must be restarted.

2.Activation

To use the worksheet monitoring, it must be activated under"Master data -> Project settings -> Network -> Logic online test".
The suggested password can be adjusted. It must be subject to the conditions for passwords.

3.Communication

The monitoring can only be carried out via the local network.
Communication to the HS/FS is unencrypted via IP port 60090 (TCP/IP), whereby the password is not transmitted in plain text when the connection is established.
Only one connection to one HS/FS is possible at a time. An already existing connection is terminated.

4.Starting, pausing and stopping

There are three symbols in the header of the GLE: Start (Play), Pause (Pause) and Stop (Stop).
These correspond to the entries of the same name in the Monitoring menu.
Furthermore, the functions can be triggered by pressing the key/key combinations"F5","CTRL-F5" or"CTRL-ALT-F5".

If Start (Play) is active, monitoring is currently not running and can be started by clicking the icon. If Obtain IP address via DHCP is configured, the IP address of the device to which the connection is to be established is queried with the first call.
If Pause (Pause) is active, the monitoring is running and can be paused by clicking the symbol.
If monitoring is paused, the monitoring window remains open and recorded data are retained.

If Stop (Stop) is active, the monitoring is running and can be stopped by clicking the symbol.

If the monitoring is stopped, the monitoring window is closed and recorded data are discarded.
Important
With “Monitor: Set input" are not reset after pausing/stopping.

5.Views (lists), filters and status

After switching on monitoring, a switchable list is displayed on the right, which is updated every second.
Possible views are the current status and the log.
A filter can be defined for these views.
Additionally a status information is displayed.

5.1.Views

You can switch between the current status (Current state) and the protocol view (Log).
These two views can also be called up or switched over via the entries of the same name in the View -> Monitoring menu and via the "F7" or "F8" keys.

5.1.1.Current state

Here all logic modules are displayed in form of a table with the current values of all inputs and outputs.
Displayed elements in this table are:
  • Column 1 "Name":
    • Logic node: specific symbol and name of the logic node
    • Input: Input symbol (Input symbol, green) and designation
    • Output: Output symbol (Output symbol, red) and designation
  • Column 2 "Value":
    • Logic block: nothing
    • Input: current value of the input
    • Output: current value of the output
  • Column 3 “Counter”:
    • Logic node: Number of calculations of the logic node since starting the HS
    • Input: Number of telegrams received since starting the HS
    • Output: Number of telegrams sent since starting the HS

5.1.2.Log view

The log lists the last 500 value changes of blocks of the current worksheet in chronological order.
After switching to the log view (Log), two additional icons appear in the GLE title bar: Waste basket and Go to the current entry.

The (Waste basket) can be used to delete the log.
By clicking on (Go to the current entry), the function is activated in the protocol to move the list view for each new entry in the protocol so that this newest entry is visible in the protocol view. New entries in the protocol always appear at the bottom of the list.
If (Go to the current entry) is not activated, the view remains on the currently displayed section of the protocol.
Displayed items in this table are:
  • Column 1 “Name”:
    • Logic node: specific symbol and name of the logic node
    • Input: Input symbol (Input symbol, green) and designation
    • Output: Output symbol (Output symbol, red) and designation
  • Column 2 “Value”:
    • Logic block: nothing
    • Input: current value of the input
    • Output: current value of the output
  • Column 3 “Time”:
    • Elapsed time since start of monitoring

5.2.Filter

After selecting one or more logic nodes on the worksheet and then clicking on Filter (Filter), only the selected logic nodes are displayed in the list. The filter (Filter) always affects both the display of the current status (Current state) and the protocol view (Log).

5.3.Status

The monitoring status (Monitoring status) displays the current status of the entire monitoring.

The following states are possible:
  • Online (green):
There is an active connection to an HS/FS.
  • Online (orange):
The amount of data to be processed is close to the limit, but there is no data loss yet.
  • Lost (orange):
During the current calculation cycle, not all data could be transferred correctly to the client.
As soon as losses occur again, the connection is automatically terminated.
  • Offline (black):
There is currently no connection to an HS/FS.

6.Functions on the worksheet

6.1.Set input to a value

When monitoring is active, right-clicking on an input allows "Monitor: Set input" can be activated by right-clicking on an input. A value can be set on the input. The HS processes the value immediately.
It can be set on the input of a logic device or on the right in the list Monitoring.
Please note that this value change is permanent and is not automatically reversed by leaving the worksheet, closing the GLE or closing the expert!
Only a new "Set input", restart of the HS, or a logic element connected in front of this input influences the input value.

6.2.Filter monitoring display

When monitoring is active, one or more blocks can be selected.
Right-clicking on one of the marked blocks allows the monitoring display to be limited to the marked entries via the context menu by selecting the context menu item "Monitor: Filter" is clicked. As an alternative to right-clicking on a marked block, the filter button (Filter) can also be clicked.
Then only the marked blocks are visible in the monitoring (Monitoring).
If a filter is active, only the filtered logic devices are displayed in the protocol (Log), all logic devices of the worksheet are always recorded.
