1.Introduction
The HS as a virtual machine is intended to help the commissioner/developer create projects and/or logic nodes.
The HS as a VM is delivered as
The
The HS as a VM is delivered as
.iso
image, which can be used by VirtualBox as well as by VMWare® as a basis for the creation of a Virtual Machine. The
.iso
-Image can be found in the subdirectory \firmware\vm\
of the expert directory.Note
The computing power of the VM may differ from the computing power of the HomeServer hardware.
Note
No firmware can be transferred with a “virtual” HS. To use a different (newer) firmware, a new virtual machine must be created using the
.iso
image of this firmware.2.Limitations
The following functions are not available:
- KNX connection
- iETS functions
- DCS-IP gateway
- NTP
- Gira Portal (incl. push notification)
- ISDN
- Firmware transfer
- unlimited runtime (VM shuts down automatically after 12 hours and must be restarted manually)
Start of the HS-Firmware only after pressing a key in the console of the VM.
3.Setting up a virtual HS
Two different products for virtualization are supported:
- VirtualBox (Tested with VirtualBox 5.2 and 6.0)
- VMWare® by VMWare (Tested with VMWare® Workstation Player 15.1)
After successful setup, the VM always tries to get an IP address via DHCP at startup. If this does not succeed, the system can be reached under the known factory settings:
- IP address: 192.168.0.11
- User name: admin
- Password: admin
3.1.Set-up with VirtualBox
To create a VirtualBox machine, do the following:
- You may need to set up or install the VirtualBox environment first.
- Create a new VM
- Name and operating system:
Select "Linux" as type and "Debian 64-bit" as version - Memory size:
2048 MB select - Disk:
Create hard disk - Virtual hard disk (VDI, dynamic size):
Selectfile size --> 2
- Name and operating system:
- Settings
- System\processor:
Assign 2 processors - Network
Connected to: "Network Bridge" (Bridge)
- System\processor:
- Starting the machine
- Select ISO image
- Remove the medium (ISO image) when prompted and restart (CTRL+ALT GR+R)
- HS starts as VM
3.2.Setting up under VMWare
To create a VMWare® machine, proceed as follows:
- It may be necessary to set up or install the VMWare® environment first.
- Create a new VM:
Create a New Virtual Machine- Select ISO image as "Installer disc image file
- Select "Linux" and "Debian 9.x 64-bit" as guest operating system
- Select name and location
- Creating a virtual hard disk with 2 GB memory
- Select"Customize Hardware" and make the following adjustments:
- Memory:
Assign 2 GB main memory - Processors:
2 - Network adapter:
"Bridged"
- Memory:
- Starting the machine
- Remove medium (ISO image) when prompted and restart
- HS starts as VM
